Other General Warnings

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
  • You develop chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden weakness, or numbness, as hormone therapy may increase cardiovascular risk.
  • You have irregular heartbeats, dizziness, or fainting, as relugolix may affect heart rhythm.
  • You have heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol, as treatment may affect cardiovascular and metabolic health.
  • You develop swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, hives, or a widespread rash, which may indicate an allergic reaction.
  • You have liver or severe kidney problems, as your doctor may need to monitor you more closely.
  • You take P-gp inhibitors or strong CYP3A/P-gp inducers, as they can change relugolix levels.
  • You develop bone pain or fractures, as long-term testosterone suppression can reduce bone density.
  • You plan to have children, as treatment may affect fertility. Discuss fertility preservation with your doctor before starting treatment if appropriate.

Directions for Use

Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food, exactly as prescribed. Do not crush or chew it. If treatment is interrupted or a dose is missed, contact the oncology team for product-specific instructions.

Storage and disposal

Store tablets in their original container in a cool, dry place away from direct light and moisture. Keep them out of reach of children. Dispose of unused tablets through a pharmacy.

Quick Tips

  • Keep all oncology and laboratory appointments.
  • Tell the oncology team about new heart symptoms, severe fatigue, or worsening urinary symptoms.

Dosage

Overdose

An overdose may cause or worsen unwanted effects. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Relugolix blocks the hormone signal that tells the body to make testosterone. Lower testosterone can slow the growth of prostate cancer that depends on this hormone.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way relugolix works and may reduce cancer treatment benefit or alter heart rhythm. Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you use. In particular, mention medicines for heart rhythm, seizures, infections, blood pressure, or medicines that affect transport proteins in the liver or intestine.

Interactions with food items

Relugolix may be taken with or without food. Ask your oncology team before using grapefruit products or supplements that could alter medicine levels.
