Medical Description

Pulmosmart metered-dose inhaler is used for regular management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in adults and children above 6 years. It contains a combination of budesonide and formoterol. Budesonide is an inhaled anti-inflammatory steroid that reduces swelling in the airways, while formoterol relaxes airway muscles so air can move more freely. Pulmosmart metered-dose inhaler is breathed into the lungs as prescribed and is not a substitute for urgent rescue treatment unless your doctor has specifically advised that use.

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: This combination helps widen narrowed airways and reduce ongoing breathing symptoms in adults with this long-term lung condition.
  • Breathing flare-up prevention: Regular use helps keep symptoms controlled and can lower the chance of severe breathing flare-ups returning.

How does this medicine work?

This medicine combines budesonide and formoterol. Budesonide reduces swelling and irritation inside the airways, making them less sensitive. Formoterol relaxes the muscles around the airways, allowing air to move more freely. Together, they improve breathing and help control symptoms over time.

In particular, beta-blockers can reduce formoterol's effect and may worsen breathing; other inhaled bronchodilators, water tablets, steroids and medicines that affect heart rhythm can increase heart or potassium problems; and strong liver-enzyme inhibitors, some antidepressants, antipsychotic medicines and medicines for human immunodeficiency virus infection can increase medicine exposure.
