Medical Description

Preva Tablet is an antiplatelet medication containing Clopidogrel which is used to prevent the blood clot formation within the body. blood clot formation is a serious problem and may lead to a heart attack or stroke. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it or have any liver disease or bleeding disorders. Take this medicine as prescribed and for the prescribed duration. The common side effects of Preva Tablet are bleeding (nosebleed, blood in stools or urine) and bruising. Contact your doctor immediately if you feel the side effects persist or your condition worsens. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding, and about all the medicines and supplements your take, and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from before starting this medicine. You should complete the entire treatment with this medicine and not stop it mid-way on your own without the knowledge of your doctor.

Uses

Preva Tablet is used to prevent blood clot formation in the hardened blood vessels thus reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, heart-related chest pain.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to this medicine or any other ingredients of this medicine
If you have any bleeding disorder like stomach ulcer or bleeding in the brain
If you have any liver disease

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Preva Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy, as there is limited information about its safety in human pregnancy. You should consult your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be or are planning for a baby, before starting this medicine.

Breast Feeding

It is unknown if Preva Tablet passes into human breast milk, hence you should not breast feed, while taking this medicine. You should consult your doctor before using this medicine during breastfeeding.

Driving

It is not expected that Preva Tablet will affect your ability to drive, but if you do not feel well or are unable to be alert, you should avoid driving.

Alcohol

Simultaneous consumption of alcohol and Preva Tablet increases the chance for forming stomach ulcers and causes irritation in the stomach.

Talk to your doctor if

You have any liver disease
You have any bleeding conditions
You are allergic to Clopidogrel or any similar medicines like Prasugrel
You have haemophilia (a disease affecting the ability of blood to form clots)
You had any surgery or have a scheduled surgery in a few days

Directions for Use

Take the recommended dose of Preva Tablet with water as per the instructions given. Swallow it with water, do not cut, break or chew this medicine and take it at the same time every day. You may take it with or without food. It is advisable not to stop this medicine on your own and do not consume it more than the quantity prescribed by your doctor.

Storage and disposal

Preva Tablet should be kept in a dry and cool place and not more than 30°C. Keep it away from children and pets. Discard the expired or unused ones as per the instruction given by your retail pharmacist.

Symptoms of overdose are bleeding, bruising. If you experience any of the symptoms or think you have taken too much of Preva Tablet, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed dose.
