Medical Description

Polycrol tablet is used to reduce excess stomach acid in heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcers and inflammation of the food pipe. Its active ingredient is pantoprazole, an acid-reducing medicine that blocks the stomach's acid-producing pump. Lowering acid eases burning and reflux and gives irritated stomach or food-pipe lining time to heal. Polycrol tablet is taken by mouth and should be swallowed whole with water, usually before a meal as prescribed.

  • Acid reflux: Stomach contents returning into the food pipe can cause sour taste and irritation; pantoprazole reduces acid exposure and supports healing.
  • Peptic ulcers: Open sores in the stomach or upper intestine can worsen with acid; lowering acid helps the damaged lining heal.
  • Inflammation of the food pipe: Acid irritation can inflame the swallowing tube and cause pain or burning; treatment reduces acid while healing occurs.

Pantoprazole blocks the acid-producing pump in the stomach lining. This lowers the amount of acid released into the stomach, easing reflux and allowing acid-related ulcers and irritation to heal.
