How Does It Work?
Oflobe Dx Eye/Ear Drops 5ml contain two active ingredients: Ofloxacin and Dexamethasone.
The antibiotic ofloxacin stops bacteria from repairing and dividing, thereby killing them. It helps with ear and eye infections. Dexamethasone, a steroid, inhibits the generation of prostaglandins (specific chemical messengers) that cause redness, swelling, and itching in the ears and eyes.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Oflobe Dx Eye/Ear Drops 5ml should not be administered with corticosteroids. If these medications are taken together, it may cause swelling, inflammation, or pain in the shoulders, ankles, thumbs, or hands.
- Oflobe Dx Eye/Ear Drops 5ml should not be administered with certain antidepressants like escitalopram. When these medications are prescribed together, it causes lightheadedness, dizziness, palpitations, or shortness of breath.
- Oflobe Dx Eye/Ear Drops 5ml should not be administered with certain antiarrhythmic medications like quinidine. When these medications are taken together, it may cause dizziness, drowsiness, and irregular heartbeat.
- Oflobe Dx Eye/Ear Drops 5ml should not be administered with antidiabetic medications. When these medications are taken in combination, it may cause hypoglycemic symptoms, such as dizziness, headaches, confusion, nervousness, weakness, or tremors.
- Oflobe Dx Eye/Ear Drops 5ml should not be administered with analgesics like aspirin. They can cause tremors, involuntary muscular movements, seizures, or hallucinations if taken together.
- Oflobe Dx Eye/Ear Drops 5ml should not be administered with contraceptive medications like Ethinylestradiol. The intended outcome of contraceptive tablets will not be obtained when taken simultaneously.
Interactions with food items
- Pomegranate juice and grapefruit should not be taken with Oflobe Dx Eye/Ear Drops 5ml. These products react with dexamethasone (a corticosteroid) by obstructing liver enzymes responsible for removing the medication from the body. This results in an increase in the proportion of dexamethasone in the blood.
