Mycept 250mg capsule consists of mycophenolate sodium which works as an immunosuppressant. The medication is mainly used after organ transplantation to prevent the rejection of the new organ in the b

Mycept 250mg capsule contains mycophenolate sodium, an uncompetitive inhibitor of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) responsible for preventing the activation of the immune cells.

Directions for Use of Mycept 250 MG

  • Take the medication in the dose and for the duration advised by your doctor
  • Do not chew, crush or break the capsule in half
  • Swallow the capsule as a whole with a glass of water
  • Do not stop the medication treatment if your symptoms decrease
  • Do not open the capsule or remove the content of the capsules

Interactions of Mycept 250 MG

Interactions with other medicines

  • Do not use this medication and any antacids containing aluminium or magnesium, which can reduce the effect of Mycept 250 mg capsule
  • The use of azathioprine with this medicine is not recommended
  • In addition, avoid using this medication with cyclosporine, norfloxacin, and metronidazole
  • Rifampin and antiviral can also decrease the effect of mycophenolate sodium
  • Concomitant administration of sevelamer and mycept can decrease the activity of mycophenolic acid
  • Cyclosporine, when used in combination, can decrease the activity of mycophenolic acid
  • Mycophenolic acid plasma concentration can be decreased when used with norfloxacin and metronidazole
  • Acyclovir and other antivirals plasma concentrations can be increased when used with mycophenolic acid and can result in decreased blood count
