Misogesic SR tablet is a prescription medication. It is a potent analgesic or painkiller. The active components of Misogesic SR tablets are Diclofenac and Misoprostol. Diclofenac is an NSAID (Non-Ste
roidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug) painkiller, whereas Misoprostol is a prostaglandin analogue that serves as a gastro-protective agent. This medication is primarily used to relieve moderate to severe pain in conditions that affect joints like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. These conditions may present with symptoms like joint swelling, pain, restriction of joint movement etc. It can also be helpful in pain management of other diseases like ankylosing spondylitis, gout, post-operative pain, post-dental surgery etc. The doctor’s directions for use of Misogesic SR tablets should be strictly followed. Take this medication as recommended by your doctor. This medication should not be abruptly started or stopped. Take this medication regularly as prescribed by your doctor for maximum effects. If you are pregnant or currently breastfeeding, inform your doctor of the same. - Misogesic SR tablets are used to:
- Manage pain in conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
- Manage pain in ankylosing spondylitis, gout, post-operative pain, post-dental surgery, etc.
Contraindications of Misogesic Sr Tablets
- If you are pregnant. This medication is strictly contraindicated in pregnancy and those intending to conceive. It can result in abortions, premature birth, and birth defects. This is due to the activity of misoprostol on the uterine muscles. It can even result in a fatal rupturing of the uterus....
- If you have hypersensitivity reactions to this medicine's active or inactive ingredients.
- If you have a history of asthma. This medication is contraindicated in asthma, urticaria (hives), or any other allergic reactions to taking aspirin or an NSAID.
- If you have peptic ulcer disease or any active gastric bleeding. This medicine is contraindicated.
- If you have active bleeding anywhere in the body (cerebrovascular, etc.). This medicine is contraindicated.
- If you need medication for pain management associated with heart bypass surgery (CABG, or Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting). This medicine is contraindicated.
- If you have been diagnosed with heart failure and oedema. This medicine is contraindicated.
- If you have been diagnosed with liver and kidney failure. This medicine is contraindicated.
- If you have decreased haemoglobin levels or established anaemia. Avoid this medication.
- If you have infertility issues. This medicine by itself can cause reversible infertility.

- Do not mix this medication with alcohol.

Interactions with other medicines
- Misogesic SR tablets can affect the balance of bleeding and clotting (haemostasis). They should not be taken with other medicines that can affect haemostasis like warfarin, antidepressants like SSRIs, SNRIS, etc....
- This medication can decrease the efficacy of tablets used to lower blood pressure and should be mixed. These anti-hypertensives include ACE Inhibitors, ARBs, and beta-blockers. It can also cause renal impairment when combined with these medications....
- Diuretics are medicines that promote urination and excretion of salts from the body. This medication can decrease the effects of diuretic medication.
- The concomitant use with Digoxin is not recommended as it can prolong the effects of Digoxin, which may lead to toxicity.
