Medical Description

Microcid 75mg capsules are used as pain killers to reduce pain and swelling. The capsules consist of an active component called indometacin, which acts as an anti-inflammatory medication. Indometacin belongs to a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs) group of medicines.

Directions for Use

  • Always take Microcid 75mg capsules exactly as your doctor has told you.

Storage and disposal

Store Microcid tablets at a temperature below 30°C. Store in a cool and dry place. Store out of reach from children. Do not throw away the unused medicine in the household trash. Instead, please ask your pharmacist for safe disposal practices.

Overdose

Please go to the emergency department closest to you in case of overdose. In addition, please carry the product package with you to provide the doctor treating you with the necessary details.

Missed a Dose

If you miss a dose, please take it as soon as you realise it. Then, please skip the missed dose and take the next one if it is time for your next dose. Do not take two doses at a time.

How Does It Work?

NSAIDs act through inhibition of the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which inhibits prostaglandin production, responsible for causing pain and swelling.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • ACE Inhibitors, Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARB), or Beta-Blockers used concomitantly with indomethacin may diminish the antihypertensive effect of these medicines
  • Indometacin can reduce natriuretic effect of furosemide and thiazide diuretics
  • Concomitant administration of indomethacin with desmopressin reduces the latter's efficiency
  • Indometacin may reduce the elimination of lithium when taken concomitantly
