Medical Description

Mahakool Eye eye drop is instilled into the eyes for temporary relief of eye redness and surface discomfort when advised by an eye-care professional. It contains a combination of naphazoline hydrochloride, phenylephrine hydrochloride, carboxymethylcellulose hydrochloride, menthol and camphor. The first two ingredients reduce swelling in surface blood vessels, carboxymethylcellulose lubricates the eye surface, and menthol with camphor provides a cooling sensation. Mahakool Eye eye drop is for use in the eyes only and should be used exactly as directed.

How does this medicine work?

The naphazoline and phenylephrine ingredients narrow enlarged blood vessels on the eye surface, which can lessen redness. Carboxymethylcellulose holds moisture and forms a lubricating layer over the eye. Menthol and camphor provide a cooling sensation that can improve comfort. These effects are temporary and do not replace assessment of persistent or serious eye symptoms.

Some medicines can affect the way Mahakool Eye drops work. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, mention medicines for high blood pressure or heart disease, medicines that affect blood pressure, thyroid medicines, glaucoma treatments and other eye drops, because they may change blood pressure effects or alter the response to treatment.
