L Trim suspension is an antibiotic combination used for selected bacterial infections of the lungs, bronchi, throat, ears, urinary tract, stomach and intestines. It contains sulfamoxole and trimethoprim; sulfamoxole limits one step in bacterial folate production, while trimethoprim blocks another step needed for bacterial growth. By interrupting both steps, the combination helps susceptible bacteria stop multiplying. L Trim suspension is shaken, measured and taken by mouth with or after food as directed, and it does not treat viral illnesses such as colds or flu.
