Medical Description

Indocap P capsule is an oral combination used for short-term relief of pain, swelling and fever associated with inflammatory conditions. It contains indometacin, a medicine that reduces inflammation and pain, together with paracetamol, which helps reduce pain and fever. Indometacin works mainly at the site of inflammation, while paracetamol acts mainly in the brain to reduce pain signals and fever. The capsule is swallowed whole with water and should be used only as prescribed because anti-inflammatory medicines can cause serious stomach bleeding and paracetamol can harm the liver when too much is used.

Uses

  • Inflammatory joint pain: Indometacin reduces swelling, stiffness and pain in arthritis and other inflammatory joint conditions.
  • Musculoskeletal pain: The combination eases painful muscles, soft tissues or movement when inflammation contributes to discomfort.
  • Pain with fever: Paracetamol lowers fever and relieves associated aches, while indometacin adds anti-inflammatory pain relief.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to any ingredient of this medicine, do not use it. Do not use it if aspirin or similar anti-inflammatory medicines have caused asthma, hives or swelling, or if you have a stomach ulcer or bleeding, severe kidney or liver disease, serious heart disease or recent heart bypass surgery.

Side effects

  • Stomach pain or indigestion: Indometacin can irritate the stomach lining; take it with food or milk if advised, and seek emergency help for black stools or vomiting blood.
  • Nausea or vomiting: Either ingredient may upset the stomach; get medical advice if vomiting continues or prevents you from keeping fluids down.
  • Headache or dizziness: Indometacin may cause head pain or unsteadiness; sit down and avoid driving until you feel steady.
  • Serious liver injury: Too much paracetamol can harm the liver; yellow skin or eyes, dark urine or upper stomach pain needs urgent medical care.
  • Allergic reaction: A rash or swelling of the face, lips or throat with breathing difficulty needs emergency medical help immediately.
