Medical Description
Fucidin ointment contains fusidic acid as its active ingredient. It helps to treat infections caused by certain bacteria on the skin. Fucidin ointment is for external application only and should be used only if prescribed by a doctor. It is not effective against fungal skin diseases. It should not be used in children under 1 year of age. Common side effects associated with this ointment include itching, dryness, redness, or a burning sensation at the site of application. Do not use this medicine in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.
Uses
- Fucidin ointment is indicated for symptomatic relief in various skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, impetigo.
- It is also helpful in treating bacterial infections of the nails, cuts, grazes and spots.

- Avoid using it for more than 2 weeks, if your skin condition is not improving see your doctor.
Directions for Use
- Before applying Fucidin ointment, make sure your hands are washed clean.
- Take a little bit of the ointment on your clean hand and apply it to the affected area gently. Spread the ointment all over the area evenly in a thin layer.
- Rewash your hands after applying the ointment, so that you don't spread the infection to other areas of the body.
Storage and disposal
- Keep it at room temperature below 25°C in a clean and dry place, protected from moisture, sunlight and heat.
- Keep the medicine out of children's reach.

- Fucidin ointment is meant for external use only and should not be ingested.
- Do not use more than the prescribed amount of this medicine, nor use it for longer periods of time than recommended by your doctor.
- Wash your hands before and after using this medicine unless your hands are to be treated.

- Do not give this medicine to anyone else, even if they have the same condition as you do.
