order (bulimia nervosa) are some of the other uses of Flutop Tablets. This medicine has a single active ingredient: Fluoxetine is an antidepressant medication. Flutop Tablets balances the brain's chemical substances that slow down the overworked nervous system. It also stabilises mood and causes behaviour changes. It is not a habit-forming medicine, but some people with a history of addiction can abuse it. Suddenly, stopping this medicine can cause withdrawal symptoms like cramps, sweating, vomiting, and tremors. So its dose should be slowly lowered. Panic disorder, depression, and other mood and behavioural disorders affect a person's normal day-to-day life, which lowers the quality of life. They can lead to severe psychological stress. - As per CDSCO and USFDA, Flutop Tablets is used in the short term and long term maintenance and treatment of
- Major Depressive Disorder (reduces mood fluctuations and improves behaviour)
- Obsessive-Compulsive disorder (lowers repetitive and patterned actions and thoughts)
- Panic Disorder, with or without agoraphobia ( fear of open space or crowds)
- Bulimia Nervosa (eating disorder)
Contraindications of Flutop 20 MG
- If you have any allergic reaction to Fluoxetine to any ingredient of Flutop Tablets.
- If you notice sudden mood fluctuations or suicidal thoughts.
- If you have used different antidepressant medications in the last 14 days.
- If you are diagnosed with tardive dyskinesia (stiff, uncontrollable body movements).
- If you are under treatment with thioridazine and pimozide medications.
- If you have conditions that cause hyperprolactinemia (high prolactin levels).
- If you are diagnosed with an eye condition like narrow-angle glaucoma. The Flutop Tablets can increase the fluid pressure inside the eye.
- If you are diagnosed with the neuroleptic malignant syndrome (a rare reaction to antipsychotic medicines that affects the nervous system).
- If you have severe blockage in the stomach and intestines due to paralytic ileus (decreased movements of intestines).

- You have breathing problems during sleep (sleep apnea).
- You have any seizure disorder and are under antiepileptic medication.
- You have a history of low blood pressure and diabetes.
- You are an older patient over 65 years of age. High doses of this medicine may cause serious adverse effects due to slow metabolism in elderly patients.
- You are going to have a medical or dental procedure.
- You smoke cigarettes or use tobacco products. Tobacco can decrease the effectiveness of this medicine.
- You have withdrawal symptoms like sweating, tremors, nausea, agitation, and confusion. Do not stop using this medicine suddenly. The dosage needs to be slowly tapered.
- You have been previously diagnosed with lung, kidney, or liver disease.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Flutop 20 MG
- Take the Flutop Tablets in the exact dosage and at the same time each day.
- Do not increase the dosage, even if you cannot notice its effects.
- Take this tablet as it is with a glass of water.
- Do not try to break this tablet or chew it.
- Do not take Flutop Tablets with other medications without informing your doctor.
- If you stop taking this medication suddenly, it may have unwanted side effects.
Interactions of Flutop 20 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Inform your doctor if you have used Fluoxetine, a component in Flutop tablet, in the last five weeks. It can remain in the body for a long period, and taking this medicine can lead to overdose side effects....
- Flutop Tablets can increase bleeding if you use blood thinners (warfarin) and medicines such as aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.
- If you are currently using antiepileptics (seizure/fits medicines), antipsychotics, antiarrhythmics (heart medicine), Flutop Tablets can slow down the removal of these medicines.
- If you have taken monoamine oxides (MAO) antidepressant medications (linezolid, selegiline, etc.) in the last 14 days, Flutop Tablets can interact to cause fatal reactions.
- If you are using any medicines that increase serotonin levels in the body, Flutop Tablets can cause serotonin toxicity.
- Do not take medicines that cause drowsiness with Flutop Tablets, such as anti-allergy medicines, cold or cough medicines, certain pain relievers, sleeping pills, etc.
- Pimozide medicine is contraindicated with Flutop Tablets as it can cause QT prolongation (heart rhythm disorder).
Interactions with food items
- While consuming Flutop Tablets, do not do anything high in tyramine such as cheese, milk, meat, bananas, soy, excess chocolate, chicken liver, canned fruits, etc. It can cause severe side effects and a sudden increase in blood pressure....
- Try to avoid grapefruit and its juice. It can increase the concentration of this medicine.
- Do not use cigarettes or tobacco products. They can alter the effectiveness of the Flutop Tablets.
