Too much may cause severe low blood pressure, collapse, fast heartbeat or shock. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

How does this medicine work?

This medicine blocks alpha receptors on blood vessels. The vessels relax and widen, reducing the effect of excess catecholamines on blood pressure. Its action can also increase heart rate, so administration and monitoring must be supervised by trained staff.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way this medicine works or increase its side effects. Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements and herbal products you use. In particular, mention blood-pressure medicines, medicines for erectile problems, sedatives, medicines that slow the heart and other medicines that widen blood vessels.

Interactions with food items

Alcohol can worsen low blood pressure and dizziness after an alpha-blocking medicine. Follow the hospital's food and alcohol instructions.
