Medical Description

Esclo Forte Tab belongs to a class of anti-anxiety medications. It is used in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Anxiety affects your daily life by feeling fearful and apprehensive about the future. Esclo Forte Tab contains two medicines: clonazepam and escitalopram. Both of these medications are used for treating anxiety disorders. The effects of clonazepam increase the effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which can decrease brain activity. Escitalopram raises serotonin levels in the brain. The combination of these medicines can improve mood, behaviour, and memory in patients suffering from anxiety. Common side effects of Esclo Forte Tab are nausea that is feeling sick, headache, dizziness, confusion, drowsiness, fatigue, sleeping problems, breathlessness, poor coordination of movements, stomach upset, and decreased low libido (low sexual desire) and memory problems. Side effects are usually not severe and go away as your body adapts to the medication. If they persist or cause you concern, speak with your doctor. Usually, these side-effects improve with the discontinuation of treatment. However, do not abruptly stop taking Esclo Forte Tab. Your doctor may gradually reduce the dose before stopping the medicine. Abrupt stoppage may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as flu-like symptoms, headache, dizziness, insomnia, etc.

Anxiety disorder

Contraindications

If you’ve had an allergic reaction to clonazepam and escitalopram.
If you have kidney, liver, or heart problems.
If you’re taking or have taken other medicines for depression within the last 14 days.
If you have glaucoma.
If you’ve ever had a seizure or fit, manic episodes or bipolar disorder.
If you bruise easily.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Esclo Forte Tabs are not recommended during pregnancy as there’s limited data from its use in pregnant women. Studies on animals, that look at reproductive toxicity, are insufficient, and therefore the effect of Esclo Forte Tab is not certain.

Breast Feeding

It is not recommended to take Esclo Forte Tab during breastfeeding as there is no sufficient data. Consult your doctor before you consume Esclo Forte Tab, as a small amount of the medicine passes through the milk to the infant.

Driving

It is not known what effect Esclo Forte Tab has on a person's ability to drive or use machines. However, dizziness, disturbance of attention, syncope, blurred vision and drowsiness have been reported in subjects receiving esclo forte tab in clinical trials. Consequently, patients should be warned not to drive or operate machines when taking Esclo Forte Tab.

Alcohol

Taking Esclo Forte Tab while drinking alcohol may result in alcohol-related neurotoxicity and neurocardiogenic adverse events, including syncope, which may lead to accidental injury; therefore, patients should avoid alcohol while taking Esclo Forte Tab.

Directions for Use

Esclo Forte Tab should be taken orally or according to your physician's directions. Your treatment dosage will be determined by your medical history, age, and gender.
Esclo Forte Tab is meant to be swallowed orally without chewing or crushing.
Esclo Forte Tab is not intended for continuous daily use until recommended by your doctor.
Esclo Forte Tab must not be taken more frequently than the recommended dose every 24 hours.

Storage and disposal

Ensure that Esclo Forte Tab are secure so a toddler or pet can't take them. Keeping Esclo Forte Tab in well-ventilated rooms is best since heat and humidity can damage your medicines. Some medicines require refrigeration; check the label of the Esclo Forte Tab for more information. Ensure that you dispose of the medicine properly.

Overdose

In cases of overdose, CNS excitability, observed symptoms of a neurological and cardiovascular nature are witnessed. The following symptoms may form due to overdose, ranging from mild to severe: drowsiness, confusion, problems with coordination, loss of consciousness. So, medical help should be sought as soon as possible in case of an overdose from the Esclo Forte tab.

Missed a Dose

If one misses a dose, one should take the missed dose as soon as one remembers, or if it’s time for the consecutive dose, one should continue with the regular dosage; shouldn’t take the missed dosage with the regular dosage since it may lead to an overdose.

Esclo Forte Tab interaction with other medicines: Antianxiety medicines Monoamine oxidase inhibitors- selegiline and moclobemide Opioids or strong pain killers Sedatives Anti-arrhythmic medicines Medication used in treating heartburn such as cimetidine Antibiotics such as rifampicin and linezolid Most of these medicines will cause an interaction with Esclo Forte, which is not favourable for the body. Some of the medicines are opposite in the nature of their action. If taken together, the adverse reaction can lead to emergency hospitalisation.
