Uses
- As per CDSCO, Combunex 800 mg is used for the treatment of Tuberculosis (TB)
Contraindications
- If you have a known allergy to Combunex 800 mg tablets.
- If you have liver disease or are on medication for liver disease.
- If you have porphyria - a condition where porphyrin (a substance that helps to make haemoglobin) accumulates in the body.
- If you have HIV and are on HIV medications.
- If you have epilepsy - a condition characterised by fits and seizures.
- If you have gout - a disease where uric acid levels are high.
- If you are suffering from malnutrition - where your body is not getting enough nutrition and lacking in macro as well as micronutrients.
- If you have diabetes, kidney problems and peripheral neuropathy.

- You have skipped a dosage. Doing so increases the risk of bacteria developing resistance to the medication.
- You found that you are pregnant. Combunex 800 mg tablets are known to make hormonal contraceptive pills less effective.
- You need a prescription for children. You must not give Combunex 800 mg tablets to children.
- You want to stop the medication. Early discontinuation of treatment increases the risk of infection recurrence.
- Your blood sugar levels are high. Blood sugar can be affected by this medication. If you have diabetes, use Combunex 800 mg tablets with caution.
- Your doctor may recommend vitamin B6 pills to prevent vitamin B6 deficiency.
Directions for Use
- Follow the doctor's directions for Combunex 800 mg medication's dosage and duration.
- Before using, double-check the label.
- Take Combunex 800 mg tablets 30 minutes before or 2 hours after eating.
- Take this tablet daily at a scheduled time to ensure better efficacy.
- Instead of crushing, breaking or chewing the tablet's pill, take it with a glass of water.
- Depending on the severity of the infection, the duration and dose of the Combunex Tablet may vary.

Interactions with other medicines
- Antibiotic - Erythromycin
- Antiepileptic - Carbamazepine, phenytoin, primidone
- Painkiller - Acetaminophen
- Antitubercular - Rifampicin, para aminosalicylic acid
- Anti-diabetic - Insulin isophane
- Anti-HIV - Stavudine, saquinavir, ritonavir
- Antacids - Omeprazole (aluminium hydroxide)
- These medicines can interact with Combunex and cause adverse reactions in the body. In some situations, these reactions can lead to emergency hospitalisation. Some medicines interact and reduces the efficacy of the other.
Interactions with food items
- Avoid food that is high in tyramine or histamine, such as cheese, smoked salmon, meats, soya, tuna and some types of alcohol, as these foods can interact with Combunex 800 mg Tablet.
