Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Clindex Gel works by the combined action of its two components - Clindamycin and Tretinoin.
- Clindamycin is an antibiotic, which works by inhibiting growth and multiplication of acne-causing bacteria.
- Tretinoin is a form of Vitamin A. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and works by irritating the skin and causing the skin cells to divide and die more rapidly, speeding up turnover of the cells and thus encouraging new cell growth and replenishing the skin.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Clindex Gel is applied externally on the skin, thus it is less likely to interact with other medicines taken orally. However, it may interact with other topically applied creams, lotion and gel. Discuss with your doctor if you are already on another topical gel or creams.
- Clindex Gel should be used with caution along with medicated soaps and cleaners, as it may cause dryness of the skin.
- Concomitant use along with medicines that contain steroids should be avoided.
- Medicines like warfarin, acenocoumarol and fluindione should be used cautiously with Clindex Gel.
