Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements and herbal products you use before starting Chempep D tablet.
- Medicines that can affect the heart's rhythm, including some antibiotics such as erythromycin and clarithromycin, certain antifungals, some antipsychotics and some antimalarials, should not be combined with the domperidone component, as together they increase the risk of a dangerous heart rhythm.
- Ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir and similar medicines raise the level of domperidone and must generally be avoided with it.
- The omeprazole component can reduce the effect of clopidogrel, a blood thinner used after heart problems, so tell your doctor if you take it.
- Omeprazole can reduce the absorption of medicines that need stomach acid, such as ketoconazole, itraconazole and some HIV medicines, and can increase the levels of others such as methotrexate, digoxin and warfarin.
- Long-term use of omeprazole can lower magnesium and vitamin B12 levels, which your doctor may check.
