Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Ingredients and Benefits
- Calinta Xt tablet contains cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), calcium, methylcobalamin (vitamin B12), L-methyl folate calcium, and pyridoxine (vitamin B6).
- Vitamin D3: It plays a very crucial role in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the intestine, which is critical for the formation, growth, and regeneration of bones. It supports healthy bones, joints, and teeth.
- Calcium: It is essential for building and maintaining healthy bones and teeth. It is very important for maintaining the balance of breaking down and building up bones. It supports flexible movements and the mobility of muscles and bones. It also plays a crucial role in nerve transmission, muscle function, cellular signalling, and hormone secretion.
- Vitamin B12 or Methylcobalamin: It is essential for the functioning of the brain and the nerves. It also plays a role in the proper functioning of osteoblasts, bone-building cells of the body, by maintaining a balance of two important amino acids, homocysteine and methylmalonic acid.
- L-methylfolate calcium is an alternative source of folic acid, an essential vitamin that plays a crucial role in DNA synthesis and amino acid production. It regulates the metabolism of the amino acid homocysteine; elevated levels of this amino acid are associated with the development of osteoporosis and an increased risk of fractures.
- Pyridoxine, also known as vitamin B6, is a crucial component for various reactions and acts as a coenzyme in the body. It plays a role in bone coupling reactions and bone calcification. Thus, an adequate supply is essential for bone formation and regeneration.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Antibiotics such as tetracyclines and quinolones (e.g., ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin) may not work properly when taken with Calinta Xt tablet, as calcium can reduce their absorption.
- Medicines for thyroid problems (like levothyroxine) might be less effective if taken at the same time.
- Water pills like thiazide diuretics can raise blood calcium levels when used with Calinta Xt tablet.
- Medicines for heart problems (like digoxin) could cause more side effects if calcium levels become high.
- Take Calinta Xt tablet at a different time from these medicines, usually with a few hours' gap, to avoid interactions.
