Uses
- As per CDSCO, Brohex syrup is indicated in the treatment of bronchitis (inflammation of airways) and other respiratory conditions where sputum is troublesome.
- It also lowers the cough and other symptoms due to excess mucus production.
Contraindications
- Do not use Brohex syrup without consulting a doctor or use caution:
- If you have a known hypersensitive reaction to any main ingredient of Brohex syrup.
- If you just have a cough without any mucus production, this syrup is not practical in just lowering dry cough.
- If you have a cough related to chronic smoking.
- If you have phenylketonuria (a genetic disorder that causes the accumulation of amino acids, phenylalanine in the body).
- If you have chronic respiratory conditions like emphysema (collapsing of the lung causing shortness of breath), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, etc.
- If you have severe stomach or intestinal blockage.
- If you have respiratory depression (slow and steady decline of respiration).
- If you have any active stomach bleeding or ulcers.

- You have a history of lung conditions such as chronic obstructive lung disorder (COPD) or severe uncontrolled asthma.
- You have diabetes and sudden changes in blood sugar levels. This syrup may contain artificial sweeteners and, when consumed in excess levels, can increase blood sugar levels.
- You use herbal or Ayurvedic products or supplements that may interact with this syrup.
Directions for Use
- Take Brohex syrup exactly as directed by the doctor.
- Do not exceed the prescribed dosage of Brohex syrup, even if you cannot feel its effects.
- Do not use Brohex syrup if its package is damaged or already open.
- Do not abruptly stop taking this medication, as this can cause some side effects.
