Medical Description
Bosentas tablet is a medicine used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a condition where the blood pressure in the vessels connecting your heart and lungs is abnormally high. This medicine contains Bosentan as its active ingredient, which belongs to a class of medicines known as endothelin receptor antagonists. It works by blocking a natural substance in the body called endothelin, which causes blood vessels to tighten. By preventing this narrowing, Bosentas tablet helps relax the blood vessels, making it easier for your heart to pump blood to your lungs. This reduces the workload on your heart and helps improve your ability to carry out daily physical activities and exercise.
To get the best results, you should swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, ideally at the same time every day as directed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food, but you must not crush, break, or chew it. While taking this medicine, some people may experience side effects like headaches, swelling in the legs or ankles (edema), a blocked nose, or changes in liver enzyme levels, which your doctor will monitor through regular blood tests. It is important to note that this medicine is not safe for use during pregnancy, as it may harm an unborn baby. Always inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, especially those for fungal infections, seizures, or organ transplants, to avoid any potential interactions.
