Bifilac capsule is a nutraceutical preparation. It contains strains of beneficial bacteria that has probiotic, prebiotic & immunobiotic properties. Every human being has millions of microorganisms living inside their gut that plays an important role in keeping your health. They stimulate the immune system. It break down potentially toxic food compounds, and synthesize certain vitamins and amino acids. However, due to certain conditions the normal microbial flora of your gut gets disturbed. It further leads to diarrhoea and malabsorption. Bifilac capsule with its probiotic and prebiotic components helps in restoring the normal bacterial flora of the intestine. Ingredients and Benefits

Bifilac capsule is a combination of medicines that has probiotic, prebiotic & immunobiotic properties. It helps in restoring the normal bacterial flora of the intestine, management of diarrhoea associated with different aetiology, and improves absorption and digestion.
It contains strains of 4 beneficial bacteria namely Streptococcus faecalis, Clostridium butyricum, Bacillus mesentericus and Lactobacillus sporogenes.
Streptococcus faecalis: It helps in normalising healthy bacterial flora of the gut, improves immunity and can prevent the occurrence of diarrhoea, inflammatory diseases, and lactose intolerance.
Clostridium butyricum: It yields fatty acid chains of butyric and acetic acid upon multiplication and helps in restoring the pH of the intestine.
Bacillus mesentericus: It promotes the growth of good bacteria and inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria. It also reduces the secretion of luminal enterotoxin which can induce diarrhoea.
Lactobacillus sporogenes: It produces lactic acid and makes the environment of intestine unfavourable for harmful bacteria's growth. It also helps in restoring microbial balance after antibiotic therapy.

Effect

The steroid Prednisolone damps down the immune response that keeps the live cultures in Bifilac capsule contained in your gut. At higher doses or over long courses this raises the small but real risk of those bacteria causing an infection.

Advice

Ask your doctor before using Bifilac capsule during a steroid course, particularly at higher doses or over long periods.

Effect

Ciclosporin damps down the immune defences that normally keep the live bacteria in Bifilac capsule shut inside your gut. In that weakened state those bacteria can occasionally slip into your bloodstream and cause a genuine infection.

Advice

Do not take Bifilac capsule while on Ciclosporin unless your specialist has approved it. Report fever or worsening diarrhoea.

Effect

Chloramphenicol jams the machinery bacteria use to grow, which stops the live cultures in Bifilac capsule multiplying just as effectively as it stops the bacteria causing your infection. The benefit of the probiotic is lost if the doses land together.

Advice

Space the doses by at least two hours. Tell your doctor if your digestive symptoms are not settling.

Effect

Ciprofloxacin kills a wide range of gut bacteria, including the live cultures Bifilac capsule is designed to deliver. If you take the two together the good bacteria are killed off before they can settle in your gut and do their job.

Advice

Take Bifilac capsule at least two hours away from Ciprofloxacin, and carry on with it once the antibiotic course is finished.

Effect

Doxycycline is a broad antibiotic that kills bacteria without telling harmful ones apart from the helpful live cultures in Bifilac capsule. Taken at the same time, those good bacteria are wiped out before they ever reach your gut and the capsule does nothing.

Advice

Separate Bifilac capsule from the antibiotic by at least two hours. Continuing Bifilac capsule after the course often helps restore gut balance.
