Contraindications
- If you are allergic to Trimethoprim or any other ingredients of Bacstol 100 mg tablet.
- If you are suffering from any severe liver problems.
- If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant.
- If you are suffering from any blood disorders (like anaemia).
- It should not be given to premature babies and infants below 4 months.

- You have problems related to your kidneys.
- Your doctor has told you that you have a folic acid deficiency.
- You are taking a medicine called repaglinide to treat diabetes.
- You have a rare disorder called porphyria.
- Your doctor has told you that you have high levels of potassium in your blood.
- You have uncontrolled diabetes.
- You are taking potassium supplements.
- Your doctor may ask you to do regular blood tests if you need long-term treatment or are prone to anaemia.
- Bacstol 100 mg tablet is not recommended for use by children below the age of 6 years.

- Do not use expired or damaged medicines.
- Discard any unused medicine properly, do not flush in the toilet or throw it into the drain.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Bacstol 100 mg tablet may interact with other medicines, discuss with your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbal preparations you are taking. Also, you should inform your doctor if you have a planned surgery or vaccination scheduled.
- Concomitant use of Bacstol 100 mg tablet along with Ciclosporin used for Rheumatoid arthritis, may cause kidney problems.
- Medicines like Procainamide used for irregular heartbeats when taken with Bacstol 100 mg tablet can interfere with the action of this tablet.
- Concomitant use of this medicine along with blood thinners like warfarin, coumarins may increase the risk of bleeding.
- Using medicines like Azathioprine and Mercaptopurine used for Rheumatoid arthritis with this medicine can affect the bone marrow and blood cells.
- Bacstol 100 mg tablet can enhance the effect of some antidiabetic medications such as Repaglinide, thereby decreasing your blood sugar levels abruptly.
- Other medicines like Digoxin, Phenytoin, Rifampicin, Procainamide, Dapsone and other antimalarial medicines should be used with caution along with Bacstol 100 mg tablet.
