Medical Description

Atarax Syp belongs to a class of antihistamines that is used to treat allergic reactions. The generic name of Atarax Syp is Hydroxyzine.

Uses of Atarax Syp

Atarax Syp uses are in treating itching caused by allergies, urticaria, sneezing and running nose.

Contraindications of Atarax Syp

Atarax Syp is contraindicated in patients who: are allergic to hydroxyzine or cetirizine, other piperazine derivatives, aminophylline or ethylenediamine; have heart problems or a slow heart rate; have decreased potassium or magnesium levels in the body; have a family history of heart diseases; and are pregnant or lactating.

Breast Feeding

No relevant information is available if this medication can pass into breast milk. However, it is not recommended during breastfeeding as it may cause drowsiness or seizures in the infant.

Driving

Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have: glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye); heart problems; hypertension; convulsions; myasthenia gravis (weakness of muscle); difficulty in passing urine, e.g., due to an enlarged prostate and digestive system or stomach problems. If you observe symptoms such as palpitations, breathlessness and loss of consciousness after taking this medicine, your doctor is supposed to be informed immediately.

Dosage of Atarax Syp
