Altonil Plus tablet is a prescription medication used for treating anxiety disorders and sleep behaviour disorders. The active ingredients of Altonil Plus tablets include melatonin and clonazepam. Melatonin regulates the sleep cycle by causing drowsiness. Clonazepam reduces the neurological activity in the brain by increasing certain chemical messengers, which produce a calming effect.
Some of the common side effects of Altonil Plus tablets are excessive drowsiness, tiredness, lightheadedness, etc. It can cause some behavioural changes and increase the tendency of suicidal thoughts. How Does It Work?
Altonil Plus tablet consists of two active ingredients: melatonin and clonazepam. Melatonin is a natural chemical substance in the body that increases during the night when there is no light. Clonazepam belongs to the benzodiazepine and tranquilliser class of medications. It works by increasing the activity of GABA (gamma-Aminobutyric acid), a natural chemical messenger in the brain. It lowers the abnormal or excessive activity of nerve cells in the brain. It is also responsible for sedation properties.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Do not use opiates or narcotic painkillers like codeine, oxycodone, fentanyl, tramadol, etc., if you are on the Altonil Plus regime. This can cause serious adverse effects.
- Inform your doctor if you take antibiotics, antifungals, antihistamines (allergy medicine), or HIV medication. The dose of these medicines may need to be adjusted if taken with Altonil Plus tablets.
