Nepafenac is a nonsteroidal medicine used to reduce pain & inflammation in the eyes.

Driving

This medicine may cause a blurred vision for a short time. Do not drive unless you feel well.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

It works by preventing the pain & inflammation (redness & swelling) in the eyes by blocking an enzyme called cyclo-oxygenase.

Dosage

Overdose

If you use too much Nepafenac for a long duration, it may result in epithelial breakdown, corneal thinning, corneal erosion, corneal ulceration or corneal perforation. These side effects may lead to blindness. Healing may also slow down. Patients should immediately discontinue use of this medicine and should be monitored closely for corneal health. No toxic effects from accidentally swallowing this medicine have been reported. Consult your doctor if you suspect an overdose.

Missed a Dose

Take the missed dose as early as you remember. Skip the missed dose & do not take extra medicine to compensate for the missed dose.

You should not use Nepafenac if you are allergic to it. Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any other eye drops or if you have diabetes, dry eye syndrome, arthritis or an active bleeding or blood-clotting disorder such as haemophilia.

Don't panic; wash your eye with water and do not add more drops until your next dose. Consult a doctor if you have any side effects.

Eye drop containers should be used maximum for 28 days to prevent bacterial contamination of it. Write down the date of opening the container on the carton.
