Uses of Isoxsuprine

This medicine is prescribed for improving blood flow
It may also be used for other conditions as determined by doctor such as preventing premature labor utilizing its relaxing action on smooth muscles of the uterus
Also used to treat cerebral vascular insufficiency, arteriosclerosis in thromboangitis obliterans, which is an inflammatory condition of blood vessels (e.g. Buerger disease) and in Raynaud’s disease

If you are allergic to this medicine
In patients with abnormally low blood pressure
In patients with bleeding from an artery
Fast heartbeat
Recent bleeding

Side effects of Isoxsuprine

Common side effects of this drug are:

Nausea
Vomiting
Nervousness
Weakness
When used in pregnant women increased the heart rate of the mother or baby have been reported
Decrease calcium, glucose and blood pressure have been reported in babies born to mothers who received this medicine
Rash (serious)
Hives
Difficulty in breathing(serious)
Tightness in the chest
Swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue
Chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeats and severe persistent dizziness

Pregnancy

Can I take Isoxsuprine during pregnancy?

This medicine relaxes the smooth muscles of the uterus and prevents contractions. It may be prescribed to you in the third trimester of your pregnancy to prevent premature labor. This medicine is to be taken strictly under a physician’s supervision in pregnancy — no adequate data on safety on this medicine in the first two trimesters in available. Please consult with your doctor.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Isoxsuprine while breastfeeding?

It is not clear whether this medicine passes into breast milk so please consult with your doctor before breastfeeding.

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Isoxsuprine?
