Molecule Description
Calcipotriol is a form of synthetic Vitamin D3. It is approved to treat plaque psoriasis when used topically.
Uses
- Mild to moderate plaque psoriasis (causes dry, raised, red skin lesions (plaques) covered with silvery scales.)
- Scalp psoriasis
Contraindications
When should one not use Calcipotriol / Calcipotriene
- Do not take this medicine if:
- You are allergic to this medicine
- You have low or high serum calcium levels
- You have severe liver disease
- You have severe kidney disease

- Severe rash over skin
- Breathing difficulty
- Swelling around eyes
- Increase urination

How Does It Work?
Calcipotriol slows down the rate of skin cell growth, flattens psoriasis lesions, and removes scaly skin. A lotion formulation has been developed to use on the scalp.
