When should one not use Balsalazide

• Liver disorder
• Kidney diseases
• Any allergic reaction with Salicylate medicines or anti-inflammatory medicines
• And in those who have suffered from allergic reactions earlier with Aspirin or any other pain reliever medicines

Common side effects of this drug are:

• Headache
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Joint pain 
• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain 
• Fever
• Sore throat
• Sleeping problems or sleeplessness
• Poor appetite

Other General Warnings

• You have asthma, any blood disorders, kidney disorder, a confirmed liver disease, an active ulcer
• You should inform your doctor regarding all the products you use (including prescription medicines, non-prescription medicines and herbal products)
• Children shouldn't consume this medicine

How Does It Work?

Interactions with other medicines

• It is advised to avoid the intake of Balsalazide along with Salicylate medicines like Aspirin, NSAIDs like Ibuprofen, etc.
• Drugs for diabetes (e.g., Repaglinide), Sulfonylureas (e.g., Glipizide), convulsions like Valproic Acid are contraindicated because Balsalazide may increase the risk of the medicine's side effects
• Drugs for increased blood pressure like Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors like Enalapril, for gouty arthritis like Probenecid or Sulfinpyrazone, should not be taken along with Balsalazide because Balsalazide can decrease their therapeutic activity
