Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Dolutegravir and tenofovir alafenamide inhibits HIV integrase by binding to the integrase active site, which blocks the strand transfer of retroviral DNA acid integration, thereby terminating the essential step for the HIV replication cycle. Emtricitabine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor that works similarly by obstructing the multiplication of HIV....

- Spegra tablet should be taken as per the correct dosage and for the exact duration prescribed by your doctor
- It should be swallowed as a whole
- The tablet must not be chewed, crushed, or broken.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Intake of spegra with lamivudine increases the risk of immune reconstitution syndrome
- Acyclovir increases levels of emtricitabine with medicines that reduce renal function
- Ibuprofen with spegra tablet decreases the renal clearance resulting in toxicity
- Medicines like adefovir, when taken with medicine containing tenofovir, increases the risk of kidney
