Uses
- Xet Cr Tablet is used in treatment of :
- Clinical depression
- Anxiety disorder
- Manic episodic disorder or Mania.
- It can be used in cases of Obsessive compulsive disorder,
- post traumatic stress disorder
- sometimes also used in cases of severe pre- menstrual syndrome.
Contraindications
- Xet Cr Tablet Should not be given/given with caution to -
- Patient having excess antidiuretic hormone in the body
- Bleeding disorders
- Closed angle glaucoma ( increased eye pressure due to drainage obstruction by the closed angle of iris and retina /Narrow angle glaucoma( Increased eye pressure due to narrow angle of the anterior chamber of the eye).
- Low sodium in the body
- Severe liver/kidney problems.
- Serotonin syndrome (shivering, muscle stiffness, rapid heart rate, and fever) which happens due to excess accumulation of serotonin in the body)
- Presence/history of seizures
- Restlessness issues
- Increased tendency to self harm/ injury.
- When teenagers and children on this medication show agitated behaviour, anger, manic episodes or increase in their depressive thoughts.
Side effects
- Xet Cr Tablet may cause side effects like :
- Nausea
- Diarrhoea
- Constipation
- Changes in food habits/appetite.
- Weight gain
- Dizziness, nervousness
- Dry mouth
- Uncontrolled muscle movements
- Sweating
- Sleep issues
- Decreased sexual stamina.

- Talk to your doctor if :
- If the side-effects are persistent and seem to worsen over time.
- If you want to stop taking Xet Cr Tablet.
- If Xet Cr Tablet does not seem to help you.
- If you develop an allergy to Xet Cr Tablet ( rashes, hives, swelling on the hands or face).
- If you have missed a dose or doses of the medication.
- Any other medical issues that arise after you start taking Xer Ct 12.5mg.
Directions for Use
- Xet Cr Tablets are to be taken orally with water with or without food.
- It should be taken only as prescribed by your doctor.
- It can be prescribed for children with caution and after medical Evaluation. Required tests must be performed before prescribing the medication for younger patients. They should be monitored for improvement and in case of no help, the medication is to be replaced with an alternative antidepressant.
- Do not change the doses or abruptly stop the medication even if you are feeling better as it is always recommended to talk to your physician as the medication can be stopped only after tapering the dose. Stopping Xet Cr Tablet abruptly can cause withdrawal symptoms like dizziness, uncontrolled muscle tremors, inability to sleep properly and runny nose.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- You should not be taking Xet Cr Tablet when on:
- NSAIDs / painkillers like aspirin can increase risk of bleeding when taken along with Xet Cr Tablet.
- Using anti-allergics like Cetrizine can cause increased side effects like dizziness, nausea and decreased concentration.
- Xet Cr Tablet when taken along with monoamine oxidase inhibitors like isocarboxazid, phenelzine, selegiline can lead to increased risk of serotonin syndrome, therefore a 14 days gap is advised between stopping one medicine and starting the other.
- Do not use antipsychotics like pimozide, thioridazine as it may cause heart issues while on medication with Xer Ct 12.5mg.
- When taken along with anti-anxiety medicines like Buspirone it can cause complications like excess sweating , nervousness, insomnia, increased heart rate and agitation.
- Taking it along with pain medications like tramadol, sumatriptan, and rizatriptan can reduce efficacy of Xet Cr Tablet.
Interactions with food items
- Xet Cr Tablet has few reported cases of high blood pressure with food which are high in Tyramine like cheese, milk, beef , liver, avocados, bananas, soya beans, figs and too much chocolate. These foods must be eaten with caution while on medication with Xet Cr Tablet.
- Alcohol consumption is prohibited while on therapy with Xet Cr Tablet as it can increase the severity of side effects like dizziness, muscle tremors , nausea and dry mouth.
