Medical Description

Tuspel LS 1 Expectorant is a combination of Ambroxol, Guaifenesin and Levosalbutamol. This medicine helps in thinning mucous in the airways and relaxing the airways and relieves the symptoms of asthma and bronchitis. It also relieves allergic symptoms like watery eyes, sneezing, a runny nose or throat irritation. Individuals with diabetes, heart diseases, thyroid disorders must use this medicine with caution as there is an increased chance of adverse events. You may experience nausea, vomiting, stomach ache, headache, diarrhoea, increased heart rate after taking this medicine. Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before using this medicine.

According to the advisory issued by the Union Health Ministry, cough and cold medications should not be prescribed or dispensed to children under two years of age. These medications are generally not recommended for children under five years old. For children above that age, any use should be based on careful clinical evaluation and close supervision.

Tuspel LS 1 Expectorant is used to relieve symptoms of asthma attacks like a blockage in the airways and lungs & bronchitis (infection of airways).

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to ambroxol, guaiphenesin, levosalbutamol or any other ingredients of the Tuspel LS 1 syrup.
  • If you are suffering from gastric ulcers.
  • If you are suffering from allergic reactions like rashes and the urge to scratch.
  • If you are suffering from bronchospasm and swelling in the throat (Pharynx).

Missed a Dose

If you have missed a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one.

Interactions with other medicines

  • Medicine used to treat high blood pressure like Atenolol can worsen the condition.
  • Water pills should not be taken along with this medicine. The potassium level should be monitored.
  • Medicine used for the treatment of heart failure is like Digoxin.
  • Medicines used for the treatment of brain disorders like Clomipramine can worsen heart-related problems.
  • Other bronchodilators (like Salmeterol, Formoterol, Albuterol, etc) and medicines that suppress cough like Dextromethorphan, Hydrocodone, Codeine, Noscapine, etc) should be used with caution.
  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
