Synflorix Pre Filled Syringe 0.5ml Suspension For Injection
Description
Synflorix is a vaccine used to protect infants and young children from serious diseases caused by specific serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae. These diseases include potentially life-threatening conditions such as sepsis (a severe body-wide infection), meningitis (inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord), pneumonia (lung infection), and bacteraemia (bloodstream infection). Synflorix provides protection against acute otitis media, a common ear infection, as well as against acute otitis media caused by Non-Typeable Haemophilus influenzae.
This vaccine works by introducing components from 10 distinct serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae, along with one related serotype (19A), and a portion of the Haemophilus influenzae bacteria. This exposure helps the child's immune system develop defences against these specific pathogens for future encounters.
