Description
Sofocure Tablet is a combination of Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir. It is used to treat chronic (long term) hepatitis C (an ongoing viral infection that damages the liver). They belong to the antiviral c
lass of medicine. Sofocure Tablet works by stopping the growth and spread of the virus that causes infection. It should not be used in children below 6-years of age and weighing less than 17 kgs. You should provide detailed information about medical conditions and medications along with family history to your doctor. Sofocure Tablet should not be used by pregnant and nursing mothers. Take the prescribed dose for a prescribed duration at the same time for optimal benefit. If you experience any other symptoms while on this medication, reach out to your doctor.

Uses
Sofocure Tablet is used to treat adults and children 6-years of age and older or weighing at least 17 kg with chronic (lasting a long time) hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection with or without cirrhosis (scarring of liver or liver failure)....
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to Sofosbuvir, Velpatasvir or any other component of Sofocure Tablet.
- If you are on the medicine used to treat fits such as carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin; medicine used to treat tuberculosis such as rifampicin, rifabutin.

Talk to your doctor if

- You have heart disease including irregular heartbeat, slow heart rate and are on any treatment.
- You have kidney disease or diabetes.
- You are on any prescribed or non-prescribed medication.
- Sofocure Tablet should not be used in children below 6-years of age and weighing less than 17kg.
Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Sofocure Tablet contains Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir. They work by inhibiting the viral multiplication and decreases the viral load. Thus, it prevents the spreading of infection.
Directions for Use
Sofocure Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Take it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor....
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of acid-lowering medicine such as aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, cimetidine, famotidine, ranitidine, omeprazole, pantoprazole decreases the effect of Sofocure.
- Sofocure Tablet increases the effect of the medicine used to treat irregular heartbeat such as amiodarone, digoxin when coadministered.
- Sofocure Tablet increases the effect of medications used as a blood thinner, such as dabigatran, warfarin when co-administered.
- Medicine used to treat fits such as oxcarbazepine, phenytoin decreases the effect of Sofocure Tablet when co-administered.
- Concomitant use of Sofocure Tablet increases the effect of antiviral medicine such as tenofovir.
- Use of other antiviral medicine such as Lopinavir, efavirenz, rilpivirine, atazanavir, darunavir, raltegravir, cobicistat may increase or decrease the effect of Sofocure Tablet when coadministered.
- When Sofocure Tablet is used concomitantly with herbal supplements like St. John's wort, the desired effect is decreased.
- Medicine used to lower cholesterol level such as atorvastatin, pravastatin, rosuvastatin effect is increased when Sofocure Tablet is co-administered.
- Immunosuppressive medicine such as ciclosporin, tacrolimus effect may be increased or decreased when Sofocure Tablet is co-administered.
- Discuss with your doctor about any other medicines, herbal preparations and supplements you are taking currently to avoid interactions.
Storage and disposal
- Store at temperature below 25°C in a cool, dry place.
- Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Overdose
If you have taken too much of Sofocure Tablet, contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed taking any dose of Sofocure Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule.
