Medical Description

Pree M injection helps keep your body healthy and supports the function of your nerves, especially for people with diabetes who have nerve problems in their hands or feet. It can also improve blood vessel health and lower high levels of homocysteine in the blood, which can be linked to poor circulation and ulcers on the legs or feet.

It works by providing your body with active forms of essential vitamins that keep your nerves and blood healthy. Methyl folate helps your body make DNA and important brain chemicals. Methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) repairs and protects nerves and supports healthy blood cells. Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) helps your body use proteins, make brain chemicals, and lower harmful levels of homocysteine that can damage nerves and blood vessels. Together, they improve nerve function, reduce nerve pain, and support overall nerve and blood health.

You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Some people may experience side effects like acne, skin reactions, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or loss of appetite. If you notice any unusual symptoms after taking it, tell your doctor right away.

This medicine can interact with certain other medicines. High doses of folic acid may reduce the effectiveness of some epilepsy medicines and increase seizure risk in some people. Some Parkinson’s medicines may not work as well with vitamin B6. Certain cancer medicines may become more toxic when combined with folate. Some antibiotics, diabetes medicines like metformin, and cholesterol-lowering drugs can lower vitamin B12 levels. Alcohol, smoking, and some arthritis or high-dose pain medicines can lower folate levels in the body.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, this medicine should only be taken if your doctor believes the benefits outweigh the risks. You should avoid driving or using machinery until you know how it affects you, as it may cause drowsiness or affect coordination. Store it below 25°C, away from sunlight, children, and pets, and do not freeze it. If you miss a dose or think you’ve had too much, your doctor or nurse will guide you on what to do.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
  • You are taking folic acid in doses above 0.1 mg daily, as it may hide signs of vitamin B12 deficiency in blood tests, while nerve damage can still progress.
  • You are using L-methylfolate, as it may be less likely to mask vitamin B12 deficiency, but careful monitoring is still important.
  • You have or may have a vitamin B12 deficiency, as taking folate alone will not treat this condition.

Directions for Use

Pree M injection will be given in the hospital or clinic by the doctor or nurse as an injection. Do not self-inject the medicine. Follow the aftercare instructions provided by the doctor or nurse.

  • Store Pree M injection below 25°C, protect it from direct sunlight.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Pree M injection works by providing your body with active forms of essential vitamins that help maintain healthy nerves and blood. Methyl folate helps your body make DNA and important brain chemicals. Methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) helps repair and protect nerves and supports healthy blood cells. Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • High doses of folic acid may reduce the effectiveness of certain epilepsy medicines (such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, valproic acid) or pyrimethamine, which could increase seizure risk in some individuals.
  • Some medicines for Parkinson’s disease (like levodopa without carbidopa) may not work as well with vitamin B6 (pyridoxal-5-phosphate).
  • Certain cancer drugs (like capecitabine) can become more toxic when combined with folate.
  • Some antibiotics and cholesterol-lowering medicines (such as cholestyramine) may decrease vitamin B12 absorption.
  • Metformin (used for diabetes), some stomach medications, and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) can reduce vitamin B12 levels. Excessive alcohol consumption, certain arthritis drugs (like methotrexate), high-dose NSAIDs, smoking, and various other medicines can lower folate levels in the body.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Yes. It may interact with certain epilepsy medicines, some Parkinson’s medicines, cancer treatments, antibiotics, diabetes medicines, cholesterol-lowering drugs, alcohol, and smoking. Always tell your doctor about all medicines and supplements you take.
