Medical Description
Podofirst tablet is an antibiotic used for selected bacterial infections of the lungs, throat, sinuses, ears, urinary tract and skin. It contains cefpodoxime proxetil, which becomes active cefpodoxime after absorption. Cefpodoxime blocks the formation of the protective cell wall bacteria need to survive, so susceptible bacteria weaken and die. Podofirst tablet is taken by mouth with food as prescribed and does not treat viral illnesses such as colds or flu. It may be used in adults or children when a clinician selects it for the infection.
