Medical Description

Ofc Kt eye drop is used to relieve pain, redness, and swelling after cataract surgery, and to treat or prevent eye infections. It contains two active ingredients: Ketorolac, which reduces pain and inflammation, and Ofloxacin, an antibiotic that fights infection-causing bacteria in the eye.

Before using the drops, wash your hands, shake the bottle, and apply the drops carefully as directed by your doctor. You may feel mild eye irritation, redness, or watery eyes after using it. Avoid using it if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, allergic to any ingredients, or wear contact lenses (wait 15 minutes before reinserting them). Also, avoid driving until your vision clears after using the drops.

Store the eye drops in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and out of reach of children. If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember, but do not take a double dose. If your condition does not improve or worsens, please notify your doctor.

Dosage

Overdose

As Ofc Kt eye drop is meant for external application, instances of overdose are unlikely. However, in the event of accidental ingestion, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. If you have applied an excess amount, please remove the surplus medicine with tissue or cotton.

Missed a Dose

If you miss a dose of your eye drop, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it’s almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not use extra drops to make up for the missed dose.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

  • Ketorolac works by blocking certain natural substances in your body (called prostaglandins) that cause pain and inflammation. By reducing these substances, ketorolac helps ease pain and swelling.
  • Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that works by killing the bacteria causing an infection in your eye. It does this by stopping the bacteria from growing and multiplying. Bacteria need to copy their genetic material (DNA) to survive and spread, and ofloxacin blocks this process.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

No. Remove contact lenses before using the drops, and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

The duration depends on your condition. Some individuals may require them for only a few days, while others might need a longer treatment period. Always adhere to your doctor’s advice. Never discontinue or prolong use without guidance, as sudden withdrawal after extended use can exacerbate inflammation.

These drops may be prescribed for children, but only under strict medical supervision, as children might be more sensitive to the side effects of corticosteroids.
