Medical Description

Noklot AV capsule is an antiplatelet medicine used to help prevent harmful blood clots in people at risk of clot-related heart or blood vessel problems. It contains clopidogrel, which makes platelets, the blood cells that help clots form, less likely to stick together. This reduces the chance that a clot will block blood flow. Noklot AV capsule is swallowed whole with water and used exactly as prescribed by a doctor.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or could become pregnant. Your doctor will decide whether Noklot AV capsule is appropriate after considering the expected benefit and possible bleeding risk.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. There is limited information about clopidogrel during breastfeeding, so use Noklot AV capsule only when your doctor recommends it.

Driving

Driving

Noklot AV capsule is not usually expected to affect driving. Do not drive if bleeding, dizziness, weakness or headache affects your alertness.

Alcohol

Alcohol

Avoid excessive alcohol because it may irritate the stomach and increase bleeding.

Directions for Use

Take this medicine as a whole with sufficient water. Do not chew, crush or break Noklot AV capsule. Use it exactly as prescribed. Tell your doctor or dentist before an operation, and do not stop treatment without medical advice because the risk of a clot can increase.

Storage and disposal

Store Noklot AV capsule in its original pack at room temperature, away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight. Keep it out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date. Ask a pharmacist how to dispose of unused medicine safely.

Quick Tips

  • Tell every doctor and dentist that you use Noklot AV capsule before treatment or surgery.
  • Use a soft toothbrush and take care to avoid cuts while shaving.
  • Seek urgent help for bleeding that will not stop, black stools or vomiting blood.
  • Do not start painkillers, supplements or herbal products without checking with your doctor.
  • Keep using the medicine as prescribed even when you feel well, unless your doctor tells you to stop.

Dosage

Overdose

Too much clopidogrel can cause unusual or prolonged bleeding, vomiting blood, black stools, severe weakness or a sudden headache. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Clopidogrel makes platelets less likely to stick to one another. Platelets normally gather at an injured blood vessel and help form a clot. Reducing this sticking action helps keep blood flowing and lowers the chance of a harmful clot.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Noklot AV capsule works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, omeprazole and esomeprazole can reduce clopidogrel's effect, while blood thinners, aspirin and anti-inflammatory pain medicines such as ibuprofen or diclofenac can increase bleeding.
