Medical Description

Kolq tablet is a combination medicine used to relieve common cold symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, fever and body aches. It contains cetirizine, paracetamol and phenylephrine, which reduce allergy symptoms, relieve pain and fever, and shrink swollen blood vessels in the nose. By acting on these different symptoms, the combination can make breathing more comfortable and reduce discomfort from a cold. Take Kolq tablet by mouth as a whole with water, with or without food, as directed by a healthcare professional.

  • Rest and drink suitable fluids while recovering from a cold.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel sleepy or dizzy.
  • Get urgent help for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or severe stomach pain.

Dosage

Overdose

An overdose may cause severe sleepiness, vomiting, fast or uneven heartbeat, or serious paracetamol poisoning before symptoms are obvious. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Cetirizine blocks histamine, a body chemical that causes sneezing, itching and watery discharge. Paracetamol reduces the chemical signals involved in fever and pain. Phenylephrine narrows swollen blood vessels in the nose, helping open the nasal passages and ease congestion.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Kolq tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, tell your doctor if you use monoamine oxidase inhibitors, sedatives, sleeping medicines, opioid pain medicines, cough medicines containing codeine, other antihistamines, other paracetamol products, or medicines for high blood pressure. These combinations can increase drowsiness, raise blood pressure, or increase paracetamol-related harm.

Interactions with food items

Avoid alcohol because it can increase sleepiness and reduce alertness.
