Mode of Action of Kevon 200 MG
How Does It Work?
Ketoconazole blocks the synthesis of ergosterol, which is a vital component of fungal cell membranes. This helps to control the fungus from multiplying.
Directions for Use of Kevon 200 MG
- Kevon 200mg is to be taken orally as directed by the physician
- Do not crush, chew, or break tablet
Interactions of Kevon 200 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Ketoconazole and simvastatin, atorvastatin and lovastatin can cause breakdown of muscle cells
- Ketoconazole and methadone, disopyramide, quinidine, dronedarone, pimozide, sertindole, saquinavir, ranolazine, mizolastine, halofantrine can increase their plasma concentrations
- Ketoconazole and dabigatran can increase the risk of bleeding
- Ketoconazole and triazolam, oral midazolam and alprazolam can cause reduced breathing and increased sleep
- Ergot alkaloids (e.g. dihydroergotamine, ergometrine (ergonovine), ergotamine, methylergometrine, and quetiapine can cause toxicity
- Telithromycin and clarithromycin can cause damage to liver
- Colchicine, fesoterodine and solifenacin and Ketoconazole can damage the kidney function
- Antivirals such as ritonavir, ritonavir-boosted darunavir and ritonavir-boosted fosamprenavir increase the availability of Ketoconazole
- Rifampicin, rifabutin, carbamazepine, isoniazid, nevirapine, mitotane and phenytoin can reduce effects of Ketoconazole
- Ketoconazole and pasireotide is not recommended as it can cause prolonged QT interval (Chaotic heart beats)
- Concomitant administration of eplerenone causes increased risk of low blood pressure and hyperkalaemia
- Dabigatran and ketoconazole co-administration can increase bleeding risk
- Nisoldipine and felodipine increases risk of congestive heart failure and oedema
- Ketoconazole alters the metabolism of irinotecan
- Ketoconazole increases blood concentration of sirolimus and everolimus
