Medical Description

Joincal tablet is a nutritional supplement used to support bone mineralisation, calcium and vitamin D intake, and normal muscle, nerve and blood-cell functions when dietary intake may be inadequate. It contains a combination of calcitriol/cholecalciferol, calcium aspartate, calcium orotate, folic acid, hydroxocobalamin, magnesium hydroxide and zinc. Calcium salts and the vitamin D component help maintain calcium needed for bones, while magnesium and zinc contribute to normal body functions and folic acid and hydroxocobalamin support normal blood-cell formation. Joincal tablet is taken by mouth and should complement a varied, balanced diet, not replace it.

  • Muscle and nerve function: Calcium and magnesium contribute to normal muscle contraction and nerve signalling as part of overall nutritional support.
  • Red blood cell formation: Folic acid and vitamin B12 help the body make and mature healthy red blood cells, supporting normal oxygen delivery when dietary intake is low.

How does this medicine work?

Calcium aspartate and calcium orotate provide calcium needed for bone structure and normal muscle activity. Calcitriol or cholecalciferol helps the intestine absorb calcium and supports calcium balance. Magnesium hydroxide contributes to mineral balance and neuromuscular function, while zinc supports normal tissue maintenance. Folic acid and hydroxocobalamin help cells and red blood cells develop normally.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Joincal works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, calcium may reduce absorption of thyroid medicines, some antibiotics and iron supplements when taken together. Antacids and acid-reducing medicines may lower absorption of iron taken with it, while other calcium or vitamin D products can increase total intake. Ask a pharmacist how to separate products.
