How does this medicine work?

Cefuroxime is a cephalosporin antibiotic that prevents bacteria from forming their protective cell wall, causing them to die. Clavulanic acid inhibits beta-lactamase, an enzyme produced by bacteria to resist antibiotics, making this combination effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Antacids can reduce the effectiveness of this medicine, so take this medicine at least 2 hours apart from antacids.
