Uses
- Hitap Er 100 mg tablets are used in cases of severe long-term pain in adults that can be managed only with opioid analgesics.
Contraindications
- Do not take Hitap Er 100 mg tablets or take with caution:
- If you have a known allergy to tapentadol or any other substances used in this product.
- If you have breathing problems like asthma or slow or shallow breathing, and respiratory depression.
- If you have hypercapnia (increased carbon dioxide in the blood).
- If you have any condition affecting the digestive tract like gut paralysis.
- If you have acute poisoning due to excessive consumption of alcohol, sleeping pills, pain medications or psychotropic medicines affecting mood and emotions

Directions for Use

- Hitap Er 100 mg tablets may be taken on an empty stomach or with food.

Interactions with other medicines
- Medicines that may cause convulsions (fits), such as antidepressants or antipsychotics (mood stabilizers)
- Medicines used for sedation (benzodiazepines) or certain sleeping pills or tranquillizers (barbiturates), or pain relievers such as opioids, morphine, and codeine (also used as cough medicine)
- Medicines that affect serotonin levels (certain medicines to treat depression)
- Concomitant use with strong enzyme inducers (rifampicin, phenobarbital, St John’s Wort) and enzyme inhibitors (ketoconazole, fluconazole, meclofenamic acid); these medicines affect the activity of certain enzymes required for processing and eliminating the medication from the body.
- Concomitant use (or used in the last 14 days) of Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression.
