Other General Warnings

• You develop an allergic reaction or an infection after using Halovate-S ointment. Immediately contact your doctor.
• You are applying for the medicine on a larger skin area, broken or inflamed skin
• You have problems with your liver or kidneys
• You have any type of skin infection
• You have glaucoma or had cataracts
• You have diabetes
• You are suffering from a condition called Cushing's syndrome
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• You should avoid getting any medicine into your eyes, nose, mouth, open wounds, armpits, private parts. In case of such exposure, you should wash the affected part thoroughly with water.
• Halovate-S ointment should not be used to treat any other condition than that prescribed by the doctor.

• Halovate-S ointment is meant for external use only.
• Use it as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
• Read the instructions on the label or leaflet before use.
• Clean and dry the infected area well.
• Apply it on the affected skin surface free from cuts and wounds.
• Avoid touching the tip of the container directly to the infected area of the skin.
• Wash your hands before and after using Halovate-S ointment unless your hands are the area to be treated.
• In case your eyes come in contact with this ointment rinse your eyes with clean water immediately.

• Store Halovate-S ointment in the original container in a clean and dry place, protected from moisture, sunlight and heat.
• Keep the medicine away from children and pets.
• Do not use expired or damaged medicines.

How Does It Work?

• Halobetasol (Ulobetasol) is a steroid, which works by blocking the production of certain chemical substances in the body (prostaglandins) which cause itching, swelling and redness.
• Salicylic acid works by removing and shedding dead cells from the top layer of skin by increasing skin moisture resulting in a decrease in scaling and dryness.

Interactions with other medicines

• Halovate-S ointment is applied externally on the skin, thus it is less likely to interact with other medicines taken orally. However, it may interact with other topically applied ointments, lotion and gel. Discuss with your doctor if you are already on another topical gel or ointment.
• Especially if you are applying abrasive soaps, skin care products containing alcohol, medicated cosmetics or are using any medicines containing benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, sulfur, tretinoin. Also, let your doctor know if you are taking aspirin, water pills, methyl salicylate, steroids.
