Medical Description

Halolife Oint ointment is used for short-term treatment of eczema and psoriasis when prescribed by a doctor. It contains a combination of halobetasol, a strong steroid, and salicylic acid, which helps calm skin inflammation and loosen thick scales. Halobetasol reduces redness, swelling and itching, while salicylic acid softens and removes built-up dead skin so the area feels smoother. Halolife ointment is for external use and is applied as a thin layer to affected skin for the short period prescribed.

Uses

  • Eczema: Dry, red, rough and itchy patches may become calmer and softer as the combination reduces inflammation and loosens thick skin.
  • Psoriasis: Raised, scaly patches can become less itchy, red and uncomfortable as inflammation is reduced and excess scaling is softened.

Dosage

Overdose

Using too much or covering a large area may increase absorption and unwanted effects. If you think you have used too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you miss an application, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one. Do not apply extra product to make up for it.

How does this medicine work?

The strong steroid halobetasol reduces skin inflammation that causes redness, swelling and itching. The salicylic acid component softens and removes thick, dead skin scales, which can also help halobetasol reach the affected outer skin layer.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Halolife ointment works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, tell your doctor about other steroid treatments or medicines applied to the same skin area, because combined use may increase skin irritation or steroid absorption.
