Contraindications of Gutron 5 MG
- If you are allergic to Midodrine or any of the other ingredients of Gutron 5mg Tablet.
- If you have a slow heart rate or slow pulse.
- If you are suffering from any other heart problems like heart attack.
- If you have problems with your kidneys
- If you have difficulty passing urine
- If you have an enlarged prostate.
- If you have glaucoma (increased pressure within the eyeball, causing gradual loss of sight).
- If you have thyroid problems like an over-active thyroid gland.
- If your doctor has told you that you are suffering from a condition called pheochromocytoma

- You are taking digitalis preparations (a medicine that reduces heart rate)
- You have difficulty urinating or are suffering any diseases of the prostate.
- Your doctor may ask you to monitor your blood pressure and kidney functions regularly.
- Gutron 5mg Tablet is not recommended for use in patient below 18 years of age.

Midodrine in Gutron 5mg Tablet works by tightening or narrowing the blood vessels, thus increasing the blood pressure.
Directions for Use of Gutron 5 MG
Gutron 5mg Tablet should be taken as directed by the doctor. Swallow it whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine. It can be taken with or without food. It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results and should not consume it more than that prescribed by the doctor....
Interactions of Gutron 5 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Gutron 5mg Tablet may interact with other medicines, discuss with your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbal preparations you are taking. Also, you should inform your doctor if you have a planned surgery or vaccination scheduled....
- Concomitant use of Gutron 5mg Tablet along with decongestants, reserpine, guanethidine (used to treat high blood pressure), Amitriptyline, Doxepin (used to treat mental health problems), Cetirizine, Loratadine (used in allergy), Isocarboxazid, Selegiline (used to treat your mental health) should be avoided....
- Use of this medicine along with Prazosin or phentolamine (medicines used to treat heart diseases) alters the effects of this medicine.
- Concomitant use along with Digitalis preparations (medicines used to treat heart problems) is not recommended as it may lead to reduced heart rate.
- Patients on treatment with steroids (fludrocortisone) along with this medicine may be at an increased risk of glaucoma. Thus, careful monitoring is necessary.
- You should let the doctor, or the laboratory person know that you are using this medicine while going for a lab test, as this medicine may interfere with the lab tests.
- Other medicines like promethazine, quinidine, paroxetine, fluoxetine, bupropion should be used with caution along with Gutron 5mg Tablet.
