Medical Description

Grafyrec Injection is a prescription medication used in the management of specific reproductive health conditions and hormonal imbalances in adult women with severe FSH deficiency. Grafyrec Injection is a gonadotropin medicine that contains follitropin alfa, a form of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) made using recombinant DNA technology. It works by supplementing the body’s natural FSH levels to support normal reproductive system function in women without primary ovarian failure (a condition in which the ovaries stop working normally before the expected age). Grafyrec Injection is given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneously), in the stomach, upper arm, or upper leg by a doctor in a clinic or hospital setting in fixed doses. At times, your doctor might ask you to self-administer the medicine at home, but this should be done only after proper training from a healthcare provider. Physicians experienced in specialized reproductive therapy and endocrine disorders should guide the treatment, as it requires careful monitoring with ultrasound and blood or urine hormone tests. Grafyrec Injection may cause side effects like headache, abdominal or pelvic pain, nausea, and ovarian cysts in women, and acne, injection site pain, and tiredness in men. Warning signs that should be immediately reported to your doctor and need urgent medical attention include severe pelvic pain, sudden weight gain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, reduced urine output, or trouble breathing (which may be indicative of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome), one-sided abdominal or pelvic pain (which may indicate ovarian torsion or an ectopic pregnancy), and signs of a severe allergic reaction such as shortness of breath, facial swelling, or hives. Before starting Grafyrec Injection, you should discuss with your doctor your complete medical history, including whether you have or have had ovarian cysts, ovarian torsion, polycystic ovarian disease, abnormal vaginal bleeding, a personal or family history of blood clots, asthma, or stomach surgery. Exclude pregnancy before starting, as Grafyrec Injection is not used during pregnancy. Inform your doctor about any allergic reaction to FSH products, uncontrolled thyroid, adrenal, or pituitary problems, or a tumor of the reproductive organs, breast, pituitary gland, or hypothalamus.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Contact your doctor immediately if you develop severe pelvic pain, sudden weight gain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, reduced urine output, or trouble breathing, one-sided abdominal or pelvic pain with shoulder, neck, or rectal pain, or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as shortness of breath, facial swelling, or hives.
Grafyrec Injection requires ultrasound scans and, in women, blood or urine hormone tests to track how your body is responding to the hormonal support, help time the hCG trigger injection correctly, and reduce the risk of complications such as OHSS and multiple pregnancy.
