• You are allergic to Glimepiride, Metformin, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
• You suffer from severe kidney or liver failure.
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• You have acute metabolic acidosis, including lactic acidosis or diabetic ketoacidosis.
• You are severely dehydrated, suffering from a severe infection, or are in a state of shock.
• You have a history of heart failure or have recently suffered a heart attack.
• You are scheduled for an X-ray or scan that involves the injection of iodinated contrast material.
• You are a heavy alcohol user.

• Nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhea or stomachache
• Headache
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar, causing dizziness, sweating, or hunger)
• Sleepiness or unusual weakness
• Metallic taste in the mouth

Other General Warnings

• You experience signs of hypoglycemia (intense hunger, trembling, fast heartbeat, or confusion). Keep a quick source of sugar handy.
• You notice symptoms of lactic acidosis, such as severe muscle pain, breathing difficulties, stomach pain, or extreme tiredness. This is a rare medical emergency.
• You are scheduled for surgery or a diagnostic scan requiring an iodine contrast injection.
• You experience persistent vomiting, diarrhea, or reduced fluid intake leading to dehydration.
• You have a history of thyroid disorders, kidney issues, or liver disease.
• You experience unexpected weight gain or fluid retention.

• Glimser tablet is an anti-diabetic medicine used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. Its active ingredients are glimepiride and metformin.

Overdose

• An overdose of Glimser tablet may lead to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and lactic acidosis (Excessive lactic acid build-up).
• This results in headache, nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbances, restlessness, impaired alertness and reactions, depression, confusion, dizziness, etc.
• If you experience these symptoms, take glucose or juice or sugar-containing products (sugar candy) and contact the doctor or visit the nearest hospital as you may require close monitoring for the next few hours.

Missed a Dose

• A missed dose may lead to high blood sugar levels, which includes symptoms like feeling thirsty, excessive urination, loss of appetite, dry mouth, the fruity smell from breath, etc.
• If you have missed taking a dose of the Glimser tablet, take it as soon as you remember.
• If it's time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dose schedule.
• Avoid taking a double dose to compensate for the missed one.

How Does It Work?

• Glimser tablet is a combination of two oral antidiabetic medicines that work synergistically to lower blood glucose levels:
• Glimepiride: Belongs to the sulfonylurea class of drugs. It works by stimulating the pancreas's beta cells to release more insulin into the bloodstream.
• Metformin: Belongs to the biguanide class. It works by reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver, decreasing intestinal glucose absorption, and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Interactions with other medicines

• You may suffer from symptoms of low blood sugar if you are taking other medicines for diabetes, such as Insulin, Pioglitazone, medicines for high blood pressure (ACE inhibitors like Captopril), Steroids, Chloramphenicol, Fenfluramine, medicines to lower blood cholesterol (fibrates), medicines to treat depression (Fluoxetine), and medicines to treat blood clotting, like Coumarins, Cyclophosphamide, Miconazole, Probenecid, and antibiotics like Clarithromycin, Doxycycline, Ofloxacin, etc.
• You may have symptoms of high blood sugar if you are taking oral contraceptives, Acetazolamide, water pills, Phenytoin, Rifampicin, medicines for constipation, Phenytoin, Rifampicin, and medicines for thyroid disorders.
• Medicines like antiallergics (Ranitidine), clonidine, reserpine, and high blood pressure medications like Atenolol alter the way Glimser tablet works and may block the body's response to low blood sugar. This leads to dangerously low blood sugar levels.
• Medicines like Diclofenac, Ibuprofen, water pills, and Enalapril may affect kidney function if taken alongside this medicine.
• Medicines used to treat thyroid conditions affect how they work.
