Exphenicol injection is an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections such as typhoid fever, meningitis caused by certain bacteria like Haemophilus influenzae, and other severe infections. It contains chloramphenicol as an active ingredient. It works by stopping the bacteria from making proteins they need to grow, which helps your body fight off the infection more effectively.
This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to chloramphenicol or any of its ingredients. It is also not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks. Some common side effects include vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, taste changes, and pain or redness at the injection site.
