Medical Description

Ethomid 250 mg Tablet is an anti-tuberculosis antibiotic that belongs to the anti-tuberculosis medication family. It is used to treat and prevent tuberculosis, a disease that primarily affects the lungs and then other organs of the body. The mode of action of Ethomid 250 mg tablets is by inhibiting the spread of infection-causing germs. The doctor's directions for use of Ethomid 250 mg tablets should be strictly followed. Stopping the medicine before the proper duration can cause a relapse of the tuberculosis infection or result in treatment failure and the development of medication-resistant tuberculosis. This can lead to serious health issues. Do not increase the dose because the side effects may worsen. Ethomid 250 mg tablet is taken along with at least one other tuberculosis medication. It's used to treat bacteria that have gained resistance to other antibiotics. It should be taken in the dose and for the time recommended by your doctor. This medicine can be taken with or without meals, although it is best if taken at the same time each day. For best results, it is necessary to follow the doctor's directions. Side effects of Ethomid 250 mg tablets include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, gastric irritation (inflammation of the stomach lining), and sudden drops in blood pressure when standing (orthostatic hypotension). A doctor should be consulted for any concerns about these side effects. Users with diabetes should exercise caution as this medicine can cause a drop in blood sugar levels. It is, therefore, necessary to monitor blood sugar levels frequently. The doctor may also examine the liver function and thyroid function as well as eyesight during the course of treatment. Pregnant or lactating women should inform their doctor of their status at the time of prescription.
